We meet on the first Tuesday afternoon of the month at the Bridge Community Centre on Pennygillam Industrial Estate just off the A30. Call Kay on 01208 420432 for more information, be ready to leave a message.
Our aim is to make the meetings as varied as possible, although no meeting would be the same without time for a cup of tea and a chat.
Looking back, our sessions have included seated exercise to music, old-time dancing, Tai-Chi, Pilates, playing steel drums, ringing hand bells, talks on holiday experiences, photography, and medieval fashion, and yet more exercise, ten-pin bowling with a meal after. Our December meeting is a purely social gathering over a delicious three-course lunch.
Looking forward, we will be trying out other forms of exercise, such as Nordic walking, circuit-training, yoga and dance and working together with music teachers for singing on a regular basis.
You may have noticed that we haven’t mentioned Parkinson’s so far. We have speakers on research, drugs and living with it. Our partners and carers can share experiences and get mutual support. Parkinson’s brings us together but doesn’t set our agenda. And it certainly doesn’t stop us enjoying ourselves when we get together.
